How To Bathe A Kitten With Fleas

Poor Claire is covered in flea bites, so itchy. I decided she was ready for a bath last night & there were quite a few fleas still alive on her.

When bathing a cat with fleas, you MUST wet down the back of their head & around the neck and immediately start washing the back of the head around to the throat. If you don't, the fleas will move straight into the cat's eyes, ears, nose & mouth. I wanted to share this as not everyone has had to deal with fleas and some may not know what to do. I was prepared for them to make a mad dash to her face & I still had a hard time keeping them out of her ears, etc. I felt so bad for our foster kitten; she was bloody in some places from so many flea bites.

If your kitty won't let you dry her, make sure she has a heating pad under a towel or blanket that won't automatically turn off so she can stay warm. (Like this one: http://amzn.to/2fJTQAy)

Change bedding often as the fleas will burrow into it and then go right back to your kitty. Our foster kitten was treated with REVOLUTION at the shelter. When she was completely dry again, the dead fleas started falling off of her like crazy! This stuff really works well. She is feeling MUCH better after her bath and once she was dry and warm, she became even happier and more loving :-) Of course, now Foster Mommy feels like fleas are crawling all over her :-/ (they're not, thankfully!)
